Where to Go?
Where do you usually go to hang out with your friends?
There are many places inside Egypt that are fascinating we don’t even know they exist. I love going to old places and cultural outings, I really do, it is the happiest moment in my life when I am in such places, and in this article I will talk about some of my favorite places and others that are on my "To GO" list during this vacation.
As a start, I am going to talk about some of my favorite places starting with the "citadel",and the most special
part for me in it is "Muhammad Ali" Mosque. I just like the atmosphere, it's very peaceful but that's not all. Inside it, there are two museums, a police museum and a military museum along with sultan Qaloon's mosque, El-Jawhra palace, El-Haram palace and Beer Youssef. If you got the chance, you had better go.
Khan El-Khalili, I never feel Egypt the way I do when I visit it; the smell of incenses, the customs, and most of all for a girl like me, the accessories and gemstones, the smiles of the vendors and the cafes in El-Hussein. All of these make it better than any other mall in the world.
Now I want to talk about another special place to my heart for it holds manymemories for me, "The Hanging Church". It's located in Mar. Guirguis Street; you can get there easily by using the metro that is in front of "Mar. Guirguis" station in the direction of Helwan. It is remarkable for its marble pulpit, inlaid screens, icons and murals. The timber roof of the nave recalls Noah's Ark. The 11th-century marble pulpit surmounts 13 graceful pillars, representing Jesus and the 12 disciples. I won't say any other word or describe any single thing, thereis no way to. You must see with your own eyes, and don't forget to stop by Amr Ebn Al-Aass Mosque and the Jewish temple, all located at the same street along with another 10 churches.
Now let's discuss my "To-Go" List. On the top, there is el Moez Street that is considered the largest open museum for the Islamic architect in the world; there are around 210 monuments in that street. I like to do some research before going to such an outing.
A couple of months ago, I found out that there was a geology museum in Egypt. Surprised as I was I decided to go and take a look, it’s located in Al Ma'adi, the most valuable stuff it had are the mineral and rocks display showroom, the vertebrate fossils hall, and the invertebrate fossils hall. For those who don't know the difference, the vertebrate are the animals, which have backbones like us the humans and the dinosaurs. Do you think we can find any at the Egyptian geology museum?
:D While the invertebrate are of course those, which don't have backbones like insects and sharks. A very suitable way for those who don't have cars and don't live in Al-Ma'adi, is to take the metro.
Change is nice, it's good to do something new and it's a shame that there are such places in Cairo and some of them we don't even know that they exist.
I have decided where I want to go, have you? J
