Where Miracles Still Happen

    Too many people underestimate the scientific abilities of the Egyptians and their mentalities, but Egypt proves those people wrong with its scientists and thinkers. One of those who fascinated the whole world is Haitham Desouki. He is a 25-year-old Egyptian who won the contest of "Stars of Science" with his invention, "Touch Sticker."

     "Stars of Science" is a contest held by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development in the Middle East. Young inventors participate in it to show their talents in creating unique inventions. This contest includes judges who are scientists in the first place; Farouk Al-Baz -the Egyptian space scientist- is one of them. In its third season, Haitham Desouki who graduated from faculty of engineering, Al-Azhar University, won the contest with a mind-blowing invention.

  Desouki invented a "Touch Sticker" that put on any surface, makes it work by touch. In this device, charges transfer through a surface, which is connected, to electric circuits. It receives charges and it determines the touching position on the surface, then it sends its coordinates to the computer. This project consists of two parts; 1- the charges inside one's body, 2- all bodies have a proportion of electrical conductivity. There are two Touch Stickers; one for the transparent bodies like glass and the other for dark bodies like wood and marble. Many companies asked for this device even before Desouki wins. What makes it special is that its application is easy and cheap, so any one can afford it.

    Winning this competition, Desouki received a reward estimated by 300 thousand dollars. He won many competitions before and received many prizes in Kuwait and Japan. This man is an honor to Egypt and the Arab World and such an inspiration for all people around the world.
