The Tiger Butterfly
Butterfly is a symbol of transformation, beauty, purity, innocence and truth. Everybody thinks that the butterfly
is a universal fly that doesn’t have a specific home; but this belief is wrong. Egypt has its rare butterfly, the Tiger (Monarch) butterfly. This ancient Egyptian butterfly symbolizes Egypt and its people.
Its body is dark black topped with white dots; and its wings are a mixture of brown and orange, surrounded with the same color of the body with the white dots along its wing edges.
I read once that the Tiger Butterfly has a bitter taste and it is poisonous to each bird or animal, who tries to eat
her. Egypt has 58 types of butterflies and it is considered a small number in comparison to other countries according to Egypt’s desert nature. However, the Egyptian butterfly adapted to this harsh conditions and it continued living its life and preserving its beauty. The “Egyptian” butterfly is capable to live inside its cocoon in this harsh weather (heat and drought) for continuous years until it rains. Then it breaks free out of the cocoon to transform into a beautiful indescribable butterfly with fantastic wings, aspiring to the sky.
