The world in the eyes of a lens
Each one of us sees the world with a different angle, and sometimes it's hard to convey how you see the world to others, but what if we managed to capture the world exactly as we see it and share it with the others!!
A camera lens could do that perfectly only if you knew how to use it properly ![]()
To understand how to use each lens for its purpose, we should first define the main types of camera lenses which are:
· A wide angle lens, and that varies from 9mm to 28mm focal length
· A normal lens, which varies from 32mm to 55mm focal length
· A telephoto lens, starting from 65mm to 1000mm focal length
The focal length determines the angle of view of the lens, which means how the subject being photographed will be magnified, the shorter the focal length is, the wider the lens can see.
Using a wide angle lens can be very powerful in exaggerating depth in the photo; you can create artistic photographs by making the objects closer to the lens which results in a funny photograph like this one.
Another type of wide lenses that creates a very beautiful scene and makes you able to jam many things in one photo is the fish-eye lens, which gives the scene a curve like that of a fish-eye, as noticed here in this famous photograph of Tahrir square.
Using a normal lens gives you the chance to capture the scene as you see it, with no distortion of proportions like the wide angle lens provides. These types of lenses could be boring sometimes as you will not be able to use it artistically but it helps you convey the world as you see it.
For a telephoto lens, it simply nears far away objects to your eyes; it also makes the distance between things closer which can be helpful when you are trying to make a photo seems crowded.
The telephoto lens is very helpful in photographing wildlife, as it makes you more selective and enables you to make a lion for example as if it's standing only a meter away from you.
As the telephoto lens makes you selective, it enables you to photograph only the object you want, making
other objects in the photo seem out of focus and completely blurred.
Now you know this valuable info about lenses you can gladly capture the world as you see it through the eyes of the lens you choose to use ![]()
