Voice your rights
Painting, playing, acting, singing and a whole plenty of fun were the main features of the "Voice you
Rights" event for the Universal Children's Day held by Ihyaa Egypt last Saturday at the cultural park of El-Sayeda Zeinab, a beautiful place in the heart of Cairo. Magnology was there to capture some of the happy moments we had with kids from different backgrounds gathered to voice their rights. Going through the gates of the park was like going from hell to heaven; outside you just find all the problems of life but you soon forget about them when you see the smiles of 1500 kids gathered in one place.
Walking along the alley of the booths was a really nice journey into the life of productive Egyptian youth trying to help their country as much as they can, here you can find science mixed up with fun, and dreams mixed up with reality. The first booth to find was of course the UNICEF booth as they were the main sponsor of the whole event, then side by side were the booths of the Egyptian Medical Students Association (EMSA) and Alshanek Ya Balady (AYB) two of the Non Governmental Organizations participating in the event to
educate the children about the dangers of Pneumonia in a very creative way. The EMSA made a very creative game showing the bad effects of smoking on lungs, they had a darts game in the shape of lungs and every dart was the effect of one cigarette, then they told them a story called "Montaser Yntaser" about a young kid called Montaser who had Pneumonia and he had overcome it and survived. Another game spread all the way in the park was a huge snack and ladders game educating children about their rights, every few steps was a piece of information about the children's rights and the game facilitator told the children more about this piece of info for the children to be more aware of their rights. What was really fascinating about this event was the scientific corner presenting som
e of Bab El-Shere'ya students' science projects, a governmental school holding scientific workshops for its students to make some simple inventions like a small rocket launcher that caught everybody's attention to it. There was also a talent show for the children that had extraordinary talents, a long piece of white cloth for the children to paint their dreams on, a fun corner for the children to have fun along with education and other brilliant activities that made the day for the attending children. Finally, CairoKee band ended the day with some of their finest songs like "Matlob Zaiem", "Sout El-Horeya", and "Efred Genahak" which made a 1500 child spread their wings in the air soaring towards their bright future
