Dear space, when will you stop amazing me ?!

Printer-friendly version

Do you remember our childhood and what is the most thing that used to attract our attention and make our minds tired of thinking?! No doubt, it's space. I remember when we were at school studying lessons of the moon, planets, solar system….etc, we used to ask strange questions and put stranger assumptions and scenarios Laughing out loud

One of my favorite habits was to sit at night looking at the moon and imagining what would I feel if I were there right now?? Do you remember our famous question, Is there a life on Mars?? Laughing out loud If yes, what would the creatures living there look like?! Laughing out loud . For a not small period of my childhood, I have dreamt to be an astronaut, Why not?! Laughing out loud really it's the most exciting job ever ! Laughing out loud Imagine that you are going to leave earth!  According to me, it's satisfactory to experience the feeling of no gravity Laughing out loud.

Definitely, reading about space allows you to know and discover strange and exciting facts about the other world. Some facts are unbelievable, others are subjects of controversy between scientists and others are changing! By the way, when did you know that Pluto isn't any more considered as a planet in our solar system?? Laughing out loud

§  One strange fact is brought to you right now:  we all know that earth rotates around its axis for a day and rotates around the sun in 365 days. However, on Venus, the situation is much different. In fact, Venus takes 243 Earth days to rotate around its axis, while it takes 225 days to orbit around the sun! This means that before the new day has come, the year has already gone! Laughing out loud.

§  Another fact about space is "space silence". Silence in space is endless, just like the space itself. On Earth, the sound travels in waves that vibrate air molecules. Nevertheless, in the vacuum space, there aren’t any molecules to conduct it, so the sound doesn’t exist out there. Even if a space ship explodes, there will be just – silence.

§  The speed of light is known to be the fastest thing known to man. Yet, it seems not to be as fast as we think. The sunlight that is enlightening the world today is about 30 000 years old, that’s how long it needed to travel from the core of the Sun to its surface. After that,it needs only 8 minutes to reach the Earth!

§  It's well known that Mercury is the closest planet to Sun, But in fact Venus is considerably hotter than Mercury! Since Mercury has almost no atmosphere, there is nothing to trap heat near the surface. Therefore, the dark side of Mercury (the side facing away from the Sun) is very cold!

  • Scientists believe that we can only see about 5% of the matter in the Universe. In addition, the rest is made up of invisible matter called Dark Matter and a mysterious form of energy known as Dark Energy.

Even though man has studied the heavens for thousands of years, we still know very little about the Universe we live in. Moreover, as we continue to learn more, we are consistently amazed by what we learn and sometimes confused! The only certain fact in this study and learning isthat space won't stop exciting us.

And now, who else is dreamingto travel to the moon like me?? Laughing out loud .. I hope we can do it one day
