It is a bit hard for us to know our personalities, but astrology facilitated the process by dividing the zodiac into twelve segments, each embodies a basic personality type.

            In the fifth century, there was that Greek philosopher, named Empedocles, who identified Fire, Air, Water, and Earth as elements which are all equal and of the same age. “Each sign is associated with one of the classical elements. Fire and Air signs are considered positive or extrovert, masculine signs; while Water and Earth signs are considered negative, introvert, feminine signs.”

According to an astrologic site, the Fire Signs, which include Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, express the warming, radiating, energizing life principle which can manifest as enthusiasm, faith, encouragement, and the drive to express self.

Air Signs, comprising Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, are correlated with the mind's sensation, perception, and expression, especially related to personal interaction and to geometrical thought forms and abstract ideas.

Water Signs, which consist of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, symbolize the cooling, healing principle of sensitivity, feeling response, and empathy with others.

Earth Signs, that covers Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, reveal an attunement with the world of physical forms and a practical ability to utilize and improve the material world.

Furthermore, these twelve signs could be classified among three Qualities:

Cardinal Signs correlate with the principle of action and symbolize initiating movements of energy in a definite direction. [Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn]

Fixed Signs represent concentrated energy gathered inward toward a center or radiating outward from a center. [Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius]

Mutable Signs are correlated with flexibility and constant change and may be conceived as spiralic patterns of energy. [Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces]

                Every sign has its positive and negative characteristics, according to

the astrologists.

Aries’ positive traits are being Adventurous, energetic, pioneering, courageous, Enthusiastic, confident, dynamic and quick-witted. While the negative ones are Selfish, quick-tempered, impulsive, impatient, foolhardy and daredevil.

Aquarius’ positives are being friendly, humanitarian, honest, loyal, original, inventive, independent and intellectual. Its negatives are being intractable, contrary, perverse, unpredictable, unemotional and detached.

Pisces also has its positive features which are being imaginative, sensitive, compassionate, kind, Selfless, unworldly, intuitive and sympathetic. And its negative features are being escapist, idealistic, secretive, vague, weak-willed and easily led.

Capricorn is a sign in which its personalities are practical, prudent, ambitious, disciplined, patient, careful, humorous and reserved and in the same time pessimistic, fatalistic, miserly, grudging, over conventional and rigid.
