Super Moon and Tsunami

Session outlines:

1. Origin of the moon
2. Why we see the moon larger than usual.
3. The Japan Tsunami

The Moon:

There’s no scientific evidence that links earthquakes &distance between earth and moon.
The Moon was formed after 15 million years from Earth’s formation, when an asteroid about the size of Mars hit earth 4.5 billion years ago (which is the age of the solar system), and thus the Moon was separated from Earth and formed.
After the Moon’s formation; it was so close to Earth that it affected the land’s motion on Earth. Now the moon is far away and moves further from the earth by 1.5 inches per year.

Benefits of the moon:

1. Without the Moon we’d have only 1 season instead of 4 seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn. Earth’s orbit was originally vertical upon its formation. After the formation of the moon, the earth’s axis was tilted by 23.5® causing the different seasonal changes.
2. Without the Moon, earth would “wobble” around itself unsteadily, because nothing would effectively control its tilted rotation.
3. When the asteroid hit Earth, the collision reached Earths core, where heavy metals such as iron exist, so this collision brought them close to Earth surface where man can make use of them in the progress of civilization.
4. “Ebb and Tide” because of the moon lead to the diversity of marine life on Earth.

Orbit of Moon around Earth:

1. Moon’s Orbit around Earth is elliptical.
2. The orbit shifts every year by a specific rate (orbital precision), due to the Sun and other planets. This yearly shift forms a circle around Earth every 18.6 years
We call it a Super Moon: because on that time, it’s at its closest position to earth, so its seen as 14% closer and 30% more illuminant.
Earthquake and Japan Tsunami

Why earthquakes happen?

From the Earth’s core, it has liquid molten iron and radioactivity which causes the core to be very hot. When this molten magma moves it causes pressure on the tectonic layers, resulting in moving them, and thus earthquakes.
If an earthquake happens under sea, it causes a tsunami; but it has other causes as occurrence of a volcano on an island; or when a comet or asteroid hits a shore next to land.
If we consider the age of the universe to be a YEAR, the man’s age is the last 5 MINITS of this year, so we have plenty ahead of us to discover

Questions:

1. Did man actually land on the Moon?
Yes, and the proof is that they placed a mirror (a special kind of prism) . If anyone from any place on Earth at any time directed a laser beam at it, it would reflect back, and so the distance to the Moon can be calculated.

2. Some astrologers say that the Moon’s close distance to earth is a bad omen and causes disasters, and is thought to have caused the Japan tsunami?
They have no proof that links the Moon’s close distance to Earth with the tragic Tsunami in Japan, in addition, it was practically proven that the Moon gets away from Earth at rate 1.5 inch yearly.

3. The Moon was formed due to collision of an asteroid with Earth, so it still has Earth in it, does that mean it could have water?
NASA found ice on Moon’s South Pole 8 months ago.

4. Did the rest of planetary moons form the same way as the Moon did?
That subject is still under study.

5. When will the Moon leave its orbit, if it’s moving away from Earth at rate 1.5 inch yearly?
It could take millions of years till it leaves its orbit. But the consequences of this drift are quite much unimportant next to the damage caused to Earth by man. There’s a case study: in 50 years, with the current rate of human population growth, energy consumption and global warming, Earth as we know it will be unrecognizable!

6. Why does the Moon get away from Earth?
Just after Moon’s separation from Earth, it had great energy, which caused it to go around earth. With classic laws of mechanics, it’s found that this energy gets less by time and thus drift away gradually
Observation on moon and its creators: 8:30 pm using Celestron Nexstar reflecting Telescope
